Media distribution

Media Distribution puts your announcement in front of readers in Southeast Asia through notable regional outlets. It is commissioned when there is something to announce, be that a market entry, a partnership, an investment or a launch.

Placement goes through our SEA Circle network, which are reporters and in-country representatives who work in the markets they cover and write in their own language. Each placement is targeted by tier, developed as an angle for that market, and reported back with what ran and what did not.

The service refers to external outlets. Scroll below for publication on Southeast Asia Daily, the media platform within the same ecosystem as ours.

Subcontracting and White-Label Services

We are open to support communications agencies, consultancies and in-house teams that need Southeast Asian placement without building a regional network. Our name does not appear on anything reaching your client unless you choose to name us. Each engagement follows the agreed scope, target list and reporting format, on a fully confidential basis.

THE SEA CIRCLE NETWORK

Stories that resonate locally

Our media distribution works through SEA Circle, a network of Southeast Asian analysts, journalists, researchers and writers, from or living in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Your material is written for each market by someone writing in their own language rather than translated afterwards and they know which outlets and journalists matter locally and what angles land.

Working languages: Chinese, English, French, German, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Filipino, Spanish, Thai and Vietnamese.

GEOGRAPHIC SCOPE

Based on Southeast Asia

southeast asia black silhouette map

Through our SEA Circle network, we have reporters and in-country representatives based in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. They write in the local language, know which desk covers your sector at each outlet and pitch to editors they already work alongside.

Through wire distribution and partner outlets, we also reach the other five markets, bringing our coverage to all eleven countries in the region.

MEDIA DISTRIBUTION

Choose the right media for your audience

Media tiers determine both price and difficulty. We tell you at the scoping stage which is realistic for your material.

Tier 1: Flagship National Media

A top outlet in its market, measured by readership or by independent trust surveys. Routinely read by decision-makers.

  • Monthly audience: 5-50 million visitors per outlet
  • Market position: top five nationally by traffic or by measured trust
  • Reach per release: up to 325,000 impressions
  • Available in all six markets where SEA Circle has contributors

Starting from 1,500 USD

Tier 2: Established national and sectoral media

A national title outside the top three, or the leading publication in a defined sector. This is the right tier when the audience that buys from you is narrower than the largest audience available.

  • Monthly audience: 800,000-5 million visitors per outlet
  • Market position: established national, or first or second within its sector
  • Reach per release: up to 100,000 impressions
  • Available in all six markets

Starting from 800 USD

Tier 3: Local, specialist and social media-based outlets

City, provincial, trade and specialist publications, including outlets that publish primarily on social platforms. Narrow reach, but often the outlet a specific regulator or industry body reads.

  • Monthly audience: 100,000-800,000, or 25,000–600,000 followers on social-first outlets
  • Market position: city, provincial, trade or specialist
  • Reach per release: up to 20,000 impressions
  • Available in all six markets

Starting from 300 USD

 What Tier Pricing Covers

Each tier price assumes a press release of up to 1,000 words, supplied by you, published in a news format rather than as a full advertorial, with one round of revision before publication. Writing the release is not included in the pricing and is available under the Authorship additional service below.

Publication fees vary considerably between outlets within the same tier. The scoping note, which is available upon request, gives the exact figure for each outlet proposed before you commit.

Additional Services

Commissioned alongside any tier. Placement fees assume a finished release supplied by you. These cover writing it and producing it in the languages each target market actually reads.

  • Authorship: We write your release and tailor it to the audience and format each target market expects.                                                   From 400 USD per article
  • Translation:  Your material produced in each target language.                                                                                                                      From 200 USD per language, per article

OUR PROCESS

Methodology and timeline

01

Exploratory discussion

Within a few days of enquiry: 45 mins, no charge

We establish what you are announcing, which markets and audiences matter, when it needs to land and how much certainty you need about placement.

Where the material is unlikely to be published as news, we say so at this stage.

Scoping note

3-5 working day: no charge, no obligation

The scoping note shows you what the placement will look like. No outlet is contacted at this stage. It will set out:

    • Target markets and the tier mix proposed in each
    • Outlet categories and the number of named contacts per market
    • Angle and format, by market
    • Languages and whether translation is required
    • Release strategy: exclusive, embargo or open
    • Timeline and fixed fee

Once the scoping note is agreed, a working agreement will be signed.
